New Persian Low Point Mandan Shoe The Persian Low Point Mandan Shoe is found in many Middle Eastern and Eastern illuminations and miniatures. Based on presentation in Osprey's Saracen Faris, and dates 12th to 13th Century.  Although later, this shoe is represented in Ottoman Turkish illuminations. Distribution of who wore it is assumed to be equally between men and women. The choice in construction and materials of this shoe was developed in collaboration with the Middle Eastern Dance culture enthusiasts of the SCA Kingdom of the Outlands. Available in Black SCA Saxon Boot Store News Vlaardingen Shoe

Back in Black 5/24/2016

The SCA Saxon Boot and the Vlaardingen Viking Shoe are now both available in Black leather!  Shoes and Boots also available in black are the 14th Century Medieval Turn Shoe, Mary Rose Tudor shoe, the Landskenecht Tudor shoe, the Medieval Ankle Buckle Shoe, and the Cavalier Renaissance Boot. Of the millions of shoes now dug up before 1600 not many were black.  Statistically near 0%.  Medieval illuminators painted shoes black; however, more often than not, shoes were brown.  I plan to write a long article in the future about leather, color, and tanning.  But for now, rejoice two more styles are available in Black!
